birthsWe can help you register or re-register a birth and organise naming ceremonies. We can also provide copies of birth certificates and help with historical searches.


Registering a birth
You must register your baby within 42 days of the date of the birth.
Re-registering a birth
A birth needs to be re-registered if a child's natural parents have married each other since the birth occurred

Naming ceremonies
York Register Office conducts naming ceremonies to celebrate the arrival of a new baby into your family. Ceremonies can also be used to welcome adoptive children and step-children into a new relationship.
