Consumer safety
Trading Standards are responsible for ensuring that goods offered for sale are safe and that age restricted products such as alcohol, tobacco and fireworks are not sold to children
Fair trading
We advise and enforce the laws ensuring a fair trading environment. We organise other initiatives to tackle unfair trading and support legitimate businesses
Weights and measures
Trading Standards are responsible for providing advice and enforcing the laws on the weighing and measuring of goods
Animal welfare
The Animal Health team provide advice and enforce the laws regarding the health and welfare of non domestic animals, the control of dogs and animal licences
