The health and safety enforcement team helps to improve and protect the health and safety of people at work, in certain workplaces, in York

In this section:

• Accidents at work
  If you have an accident in a workplace, as an employee or a customer, it may need to be reported by law
• Dangerous structures and public safety
  Report structures you think are dangerous immediately
• Food safety
  We help protect public health and support businesses to ensure standards of hygiene and safety are maintained
• Health and safety at work
  Advice and training, investigations and inspections
• Health and safety for council services and employees
  We advise on issues in connection with the health and safety of our employees, services and our customers
• Licences and street trading
  Licences and permits issued by the council
• Major emergency incident
  If there is a major incident in York we must keep main council services running and co-ordinate what voluntary groups do to help
• Smoke free
  A total ban on smoking in enclosed public places will come into force in England on the Sunday 1 July 2007
• Annual report
  In this report we summarise the work and achievements of the teams that deliver these services and report the results of how satisfied our customers were with our work
