Cherry pickers, access platforms and cranes

You need permission from the council to place a cherry picker, access platform or crane on any part of the highway. A highway includes the road, footways and verges.

Permission can be obtained for the duration of the works.

Are there any rules?

  • Rigid pedestrian barriers must be used to prevent pedestrians walking underneath
  • Traffic management measures will be required
  • A copy of the permit must be displayed on the vehicle or be in possession of the operative at all times.

Cost

The cost of a licence for one day is £60.00, for two days or more the cost is £88.00

An invoice will be raised for the fee.
