Scaffolding licence

You need permission from us to place any scaffolding (including temporary scaffold towers) on any part of the highway. A highway includes the road, footways and verges.

Permission is valid for the duration of the works.

Are there any rules?

  • If pedestrian access through the scaffold is not possible then a temporary footway must be provided, including traffic warning measures
  • If a drop body is to be used then you must apply for a skip licence

Please refer to the terms and conditions for further information.  If you have any further queries please contact us.

Cost

It costs £75.00for the initial consent and a 28 day licence. Subsequent periods or part thereof will be charged at £50.00.

A late application (within 5 working days) will be charged an additional £15.00, i.e. £90.00 in total.

If a defect notice is issued because the scaffolding does not meet the terms and conditions of the licence, a further charge of £15.00 will be made.

An invoice will be sent to you for the fee.
