You need permission to place building materials on the public highway. A highway includes not only the road but also footways and verges.

Permission is given on a daily basis.

Public liability insurance is required. To find out more download the terms and conditions shown opposite.  You must also think carefully about the exact location, size of ground area, type of materials and most importantly pedestrian and vehicle safety.

Cost

Permission costs £6.00 a day.  Make cheques payable to 'City of York Council' and return it with your application.
