Blossom Street transport improvements

Blossom Street is one of the busiest junctions in York, with a very large number of vehicles, buses, cyclists and pedestrians, using it every day - particularly at peak times.

There are currently many safety issues for all users of this street, but there is very little road space available to change much. There have been 22 recorded accidents involving pedestrians and 9 involving cyclists, over the last five years.

We are asking for your views on a range of possible options to improve the safety in this area.  The public consultation document can be found in the download section on the right.  Also, this consultation can be completed online until Friday 26 March 2010.

If you wish to raise any specific issues regarding this scheme, please contact the project lead, Richard Holland, using the contact details at the right hand side of this page.

Displays showing plans of the options are available at Askham Bar Park & Ride site and at the council offices at 9 St Leonard's Place during normal opening hours.

There will also be a public exhibition with council staff available to answer any questions at Nunnery Lane Car Park on Thursday 25 February and Friday 26 February, from 9am to 8pm.
