If you want to complain about a trader there are a number of stages you should follow:
Customers should try to resolve the complaint directly with the trader.
If the complaint remains unresolved, either party can download and complete a dispute resolution form. Return the form to us within 14 days.
The Conciliator will send a copy of this form to the trader with a request for a written response within 7 working days.
City of York Trading Standards will investigate the complaint within 28 days and, where necessary, provide a recommendation to resolve the dispute. This recommendation is binding on the member. Where it is considered necessary to consult an independent expert, agreement will be sought from both parties about the payment of such consultation.
