The Haughton Gardiner Trust Fund

This is a fund which was amended on 8th August 2001 to incorporate several other local charities.  It is administered by the City of York Council.

Trustees

There are 5 Trustees who serve a term of 3 years which can be extended by resolution of the Trustees.

  • Two Trustees, the Minister in charge for the time being of All Saints Pavement with St.Crux & St.Michael Spurriergate and a person elected by the Church Council
  • Two Trustees appointed by resolution of the Trustees
  • One Trustee appointed by the City of York Education Authority.

Purposes

The Trustees apply the net yearly income of the Foundation for the benefit of young people under 25 who are resident in the City of York who, in the opinion of the Trustees, are in need of financial assistance.  This may be in the form of:-

  • The provision of financial assistance towards books, musical instruments, sports equipment or any other educational equipment not provided by the Local Education Authortity
  • The provision of any other financial assistance for educational purposes as the Trustees feel appropriate.
  • For the benefit of young people by giving grants to educational establishments within the City of York boundary to buy capital equipment.

Applications

Applications are invited from individuals under 25 years old or educational establishments.  The Trustees request that the information provided be as detailed as possible to help them make their decision.  Applications should include references from professionals where appropriate.  There is an application form available for completion which can be submitted with supporting documents or application can be made by letter.

It is suggested that the applications are sent in by the end of April as the Trustees meet once a year in the Spring/Early summer to consider the applications received.  The applicants are notified of the outcome of their request shortly after the meeting.
