Housing Benefit Advice Line for private landlords

We have a dedicated Housing Benefit advice line for private landlords.  You can contact us directly on  01904 552226 between 8.30am and 5pm Monday to Friday.

The advice line can answer general questions about Housing Benefit/Local Housing Allowance as well as issues you may have about individual tenants (where we have the tenants permission to disclose information to you, or where payments are made directly to you). 

If we are unable to answer your call immediately we will return your call within 2 working days.

Information for private sector landlords

Information on a wide range of matters relating to the private rented sector is available from the Housing Standards and Adaptations Team.  Subjects include:

  • Landlord conferences and focus groups

  • Landlord newsletters

  • Regulation within the private rented sector, including Licensing of Houses in Multiple Occupation and fire safety guidance

  • Health and Safety advice

  • Code of Practice for student accommodation
