Overpayments – what happens if you pay me too much benefit?
If you are overpaid housing benefit you will normally have to repay it. We will write and tell you:
- what you correct benefit is
- why you were overpaid
- how much the overpayment is
- whether you have to pay it back
We recover overpayments by deductions from future housing benefit or by sending you a bill if your benefit has ended.
