Council tax benefits overpayments
If you are overpaid council tax benefit (or second adult rebate) you will normally have to repay it. We write to you and tell you:
- what your correct benefit is
- why you were overpaid
- how much the overpayment is
- whether you have to pay it back
We recover overpayments by debiting your council tax account (i.e. the value of the overpayment is added to your account). We will then send you an amended bill.
