We want to ensure that as many residents of York receive the benefits and credits that they are entitled to. The benefits advice team provide information and advice on all welfare benefits and tax credits.
They can also
The team can help you over the phone or in person at the City Finance Office or Acomb Office by appointment. Advisers can also visit you in your own home if you are unable to get to one of our offices. Tel:(01904) 552233 or 552252.
We work with partner agencies to promote the take up of benefits throughout York and target those groups that are missing out.
We know that not everyone realises they are missing out or will know to contact us. We have advisers whose role is to promote awareness of benefits and encourage people who haven’t thought of making a claim.
We do regular take up campaigns which involve distributing leaflets and posters and may also include other forms of publicity such as radio advertisements.
We attend roadshows, give talks and presentations and run advice sessions at events for local community groups and at other venues (such as health centres).
We work in partnership with other agencies including the Pension Service, Citizens Advice Bureau, Carers Centre, Age Concern and Disability Information and Advice Centre.
If you attend or are involved in any group and would like us to attend a meeting or hold advice sessions please contact us tel:(01904) 552235 or 552950.
