Details of fees for our services and services at other approved venues in York are listed below.
Our fees are reviewed annually and are subject to change from 1 April each year.

Giving notice fees
When you give your notice there is a statutory fee which is payable at the time of the appointment. Please note there is an additional fee for attending notice appointments on a Saturday.

Pre-ceremony consultation fees

Marriage and civil partnership fees
To secure a slot you're required to pay a non-refundable deposit of £50. The £50 deposit is deductible from your final balance.
To pay the ceremony deposits/balances an invoice will be raised approximately 10 weeks before the ceremony and sent to the address we have on file. However, if you'd like to pay sooner you can email: ceremonies@york.gov.uk and ask for the invoice to be raised.
Once an invoice is raised you'll have 28 days to make the payment.
Full details on how to make the payment will be included in the invoice.
There is a ceremony administration fee of £42.00 when reschedule a booked ceremony.
Fees are subject to change and usually revised on 1 April each year. The fee charged will be the current fee which is in place at the time of your payment.
If you decide to move your ceremony date the deposit can move to your new date. If you cancel your ceremony the £50 is non-refundable.
If we need to check documents from overseas or need to contact the General Register Office to confirm whether your marriage or civil partnership can go ahead, there may be additional costs.

Administration fees for all ceremonies
There is a fee of £42.00 per change for any changes to the:
- venue
- date of your ceremony
- time of your ceremony
Ways to pay York Register Office
- pay by credit or with debit card, terms and conditions apply
- ceremony deposits/balances can be paid by an invoice which will be raised and emailed or posted (if you don’t have an email address) approximately 10 weeks before the ceremony is due to take place. However, if you'd like to pay sooner you can email ceremonies@york.gov.uk and ask for the invoice to be raised. You have 28 days to make the payment once an invoice is raised.
